Das aktuelle findet sich hier: Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!

A new year means a new Monday Meeting!
  • I’m at home on the last day of my vacation. Rich compliments the quality of the picture from my new laptop.
  • Rich is still recovering from his elbow surgery. He explains his frustration in getting the injury because he was trying to avoid carpel tunnel. As a result, he’s still in his old studio.
  • Rich saw Chuck Wendig’s Double Dead novel in Barnes & Noble’s. I talk a bit about my old pug dog’s health problems over the holidays.
  • Both of us admit to being really tired by the time midnight rolled around on January 1. We’re getting too old.
  • Rich is thinking about posting a retrospective of 2011 here on the blog. That will come at some point in the future.
  • We talk a lot about some back-end business stuff, like contracts and paperwork. Yes, game design is super exciting at times.
  • After that, we talk a bit about what we can do in 2012 and 2013. The discussion rambles a bit to the Old School Renaissance, Kickstarter, and Amazon.
  • Rich compares classic World of Darkness and new World of Darkness to Russell T. Davies and Steven Moffett.
  • I’m just coming back from vacation, so we don’t talk about specific projects.
Today’s Reason to Drink: Happy 2012!

A Somber Day

By
– June 18, 2012Posted in: Monday Meeting
Meeting Notes
  • My eldest dog Vinny passed away on Sunday, so I’m a pretty somber mood. Rich and I talk about that, and we share stories of dog illness.
  • Shards for Exalted is in the approval process, and we’ve already had some revisions.
  • [EXCITING NEW EXALTED BOOK] has an outline put together.
  • Boring contract stuff.
  • We also talk about the challenges of open communication with remote employees and contractors (something Rich and I have been pretty opinionated about for years).
  • There’s still some catching up in the next couple of months, but the schedule should smooth out soon.
  • We talk a little about the upcoming Atlanta By Night event, but really, Ric (the show’s organizer) has it well in hand. If you want to learn more, check out the website at http://www.atlbynight2012.com/.
  • Falling Scales #2: Getting it to layout. Art cover in process.
  • Children of the Revolution art coming in for review. Also all in editing.
  • CotR Kickstarter payments are still being processed by Amazon.
  • Mummy is in layout and graphic design.
  • Aileen’s already working on graphic design for W20.
  • Waiting on revised PoD proof for V20 Companion.
Today’s Reason to Drink: Today is Waterloo Day, a celebration of the date of the Battle of Waterloo, which was…uh… June 18th.

Meine persoenlichen Comments.

There’s still some catching up in the next couple of months, but the schedule should smooth out soon.

Mummy is in layout and graphic design.

Aileen’s already working on graphic design for W20.

Waiting on revised PoD proof for V20 Companion.

Today’s Reason to Drink: Today is Waterloo Day, a celebration of the date of the Battle of Waterloo, which was…uh… June 18th.
:p *jokingly*

My eldest dog Vinny passed away on Sunday, so I’m a pretty somber mood. Rich and I talk about that, and we share stories of dog illness.

Neuer Montag, neues Meeting:
My Head Falling Off

By

– June 26, 2012Posted in: Monday Meeting
Meeting Notes
  • Rich asks me about my ear problems (I’ve been having medical problems), and my pending vacation. He doesn’t want the side of my head falling off.
  • We’re working on a big announcement on July 15th.
  • I’m trying to find a way to get into the old office to get some W20 art for Aileen to scan.
  • Shards files for Exalted out to PoD printer now to get print approval.
  • Rich and I talked a little about what we’re going to do at Atlanta by Night. The answer is “we’ll worry about that after GenCon.”
  • I’m going on vacation from June 30th to July 15th. And by “vacation,” I mean “only checking email once in a while, and still having weekly meetings with Rich.”
  • Rich had a great talk with the guys at the Darker Days podcast.
  • This led into a discussion of the art and development of a new line vs. on a particular book (i.e., it’s much more simultaneous process than in a supplemental book).
  • Falling Scales #2: Finalizing layout.
  • Children of the Revolution getting close to early review.
  • Blood Sorcery is in editing, and sketches are coming in.
  • Matt McFarland is developing some new stuff, as is Russell.
  • There was a fantastic Exalted meeting between the principals involved about the bright future of that game line.
  • We close on us discussing some things we’ll need to record in the near future.
Today’s Reason to Drink: On June 26th, 2003, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that gender-based sodomy laws are unconstitutional.

Mein Tipp: Die große Neuigkeit ist das CCP White Wolf wieder als eigenständigen Verlag unter dem Namen Onyx Path Publishing aussondert.

The Wrong Headphones

By
– July 2, 2012Posted in: Monday Meeting

Meeting Notes
  • I’m on vacation, but I still call Rich to have our Monday Meeting. Because I love Rich so much. SO. MUCH.
  • When I call, Rich had the wrong headphones on (the headphone for his Mac, not his PC). But he needs them, so it’s okay.
  • This morning I worked on my book of Sherlock Holmes essays. I got over 6,000 words rewritten, and I’m hoping I can keep that momentum over the next couple of weeks.
  • Rich has some technical things moving forward, and other things not moving forward. In other words, I help him with his iPhone.
  • I found some of the original Apocalypse pieces of art at the old office, which I will get off to Aileen to scan.
  • We trade D&D war stories for a while, and then talk about using various tools for RPGs.
  • We talk some more about Exalted. I’m hoping we’ll be able to pull the cover back on those plans in a few weeks.
  • Falling Scales #2 proof from Chaney.
  • Justin should have text from Children of the Revolution in to Rich tonight.
  • Art for Blood Sorcery is trickling in for review. It’s the same crew as the Victorian Lost book.
  • Eight or nine artists on CotR. A few from cWoD, a few we’ve used before, and a few we’ve never used before.
  • Some art corrections (including Example of Play comic) for W20.
  • Editing with W20 is going on.
  • Rich is looking into some interesting book specs for the W20 Limited Edition.
  • I’ve talked with Ryan Macklin about Ascension stuff, so that seems to be moving forward. (And before anyone asks, no “Ascension stuff” is not code for M20.)
Today’s Reason To Drink: Apparently, in a couple of days, something important happened in America or something? It seems to involve hamburgers and beer.

Meeting Notes
  • I’m deep into my vacation, which means writing, LARPing, and playing video games.
  • Rich is still evolving his workspace. Part of this evolution seems to involve a brief power outage, and I lose Rich for a bit.
  • Once he’s back, I tell Rich about my nWoD short story that I’m working on. It involves bugs.
  • Rich’s friend who helps him with his network support lives in the mushroom capital of the world.
  • We talk about our personal schedules for GenCon, and the usual scheduling Jenga that results.
  • Rich is on a panel about editors, which I find amusing.
  • We talk about Warren Buffet.
  • There’s a lot of back-end stuff that ties into the announcement next week, which takes a decent chunk of the call.
  • During the call, Ian sends me this: https://twitter.com/#!/search/#FakeWWTeaser
  • There’s a number of books waiting to be approved after vacation, and Shards for Exalted is in the final steps before going live.
Today’s Reason to Drink: On July 9th, 1850, the Persian prophet Báb was executed in Tabriz.
XD

Total Eclipse of the Heart

Meeting Notes
  • Rich is back from the cabin. It was a nice vacation, if a bit shorter than usual.
  • Announcement is on hold for a bit. We’re anxious and excited to give the announcement, but there were some internal pieces that need to be put together, and with various vacations they couldn’t come together the way they want to.
  • So, naturally, we spent much of the meeting talking about those internal pieces.
  • Bunch of projects up for review, including Falling Scales #2.
  • Art coming in and review.
  • Shards went Platinum in four days on DriveThruRPG!
  • V20 Companion limited edition printed and on its way to the shipper.
  • If anyone in Mind’s Eye Society is going to be at EClipse in Cincinnati this weekend, I’ll be there playing my Lasombra in Sabbat and my Malkavian in the Camarilla!
Today’s Reason to Drink:On July 17, 1917, Phyllis Diller was born.

Justin Achilli@jachilli
#cWoD crossover chronicle in the works. Mages and ghosts dragged resentfully into Kindred ambitions.

Down in Atlanta

– July 23, 2012Posted in: Monday Meeting

Meeting Notes
  • The last bits and pieces are going back and forth in the background. Soon. (At least, I really hope it’s soon.)
  • Justin was down in Atlanta, when I was in Cincinnati. He signed books. I did not.
  • Art is (nearly) all in for Children of the Revolution.
  • Christmas in July sale happening now at DrivethruRPG.com. Go check it out!
  • Falling Scales hardcover proof in the process of clearing the printer.
  • Shards of the Exalted Dream is doing really well! Still #1 on the Hottest Items on DTR!
  • Why do people go on websites and spend time trashing things they love?
  • EClipse was low-key for me. I had a good time, but no one asked me about White Wolf stuff really. I got to play a lot, which was novel for me.
  • Rich will have lunch with the Wendig. There will be much… Wendiggery.
  • Mummy text is in the designer’s hands for layout.
  • Couple more Kickstarters on the horizon.
  • W20 is still rolling along. First Ron Spencer full pages are in Rich’s hands.
Today’s Reason to Drink: On July 23, 1992, Abkhazia declared independence from Georgia. The country, not the state.

A large part of this book will be devoted to detailing the houses of the Dynasty, updating and enlivening with intention of making the houses as tantalizing as Kindred Clans in terms of iconicism and player association and appeal. 160 pages. The Chronicle focuses on the legends of the Strix — the owl spirits that prey on vampires. A threat unique to Vampire and used to great effect in the historical Rome books, this book will show the effects of a world where the threat of their return has warped vampire society. Will contain default tweaks to the rules and in-depth history and backstory of just such a setting. 264 pages. PDF/PoD/Deluxe Kickstarter.

MTAs – Convention Book: Syndicate: As promised, this book is one of those in the Convention Book series that wasn’t finished when cWoD ended and which has been clamored for ever since. 84 pages. PDF/PoD.

Exalted – Dragon-Blooded: What Fire Has Wrought: This book introduces the Dragon-Blooded for the first time in Third Edition, including character creation rules and the Dragon-Blooded Charm set. What Fire Has Wrought is the first indicator of the dynamic new “novel” feel of Exalted, of amped-up Storytelling, with each book as a chapter in the legend of the game. This book will give an iconic view of the Dragon-Blooded, showing their creation as the armies of the Celestial Host and detailing their place in the current era. It will feature some further details of the Realm as well as Lookshy and other locales where Dragon-Blooded are prominent. Overall, it will focus on the legend of the Dragon-Blooded and the fires they have had to walk through to get to where they are, as Creation’s premiere, dominant Exalted. 220 pages. PDF/PoD Hardcover/Deluxe Kickstarter.
July 2013

DTF/DT? – Demon Translation Guide: Provides the ability to translate characters from Demon: The Fallen to Demon: The ??? and vice versa. 50 pages. PDF/PoD.

August 2013

DT? – Demon: The ???: A new game line, answering many fan requests; a new look at those creatures of fire and darkness: fallen angels, nightmares from the nether realms, servants of the God Machine or something else entirely? Includes codified rule sets of those rules developed over the last few years including: Shards, SASs, Tiers as well as a rich background for players to immerse themselves in. 320 pages. PDF/PoD Hardcover/ Deluxe Kickstarter.

VTM – Blood Diaries of the Clans: This volume would revisit the Clans as a collection of mini-clanbooks, with each clan’s subsection arranged in the same format. This title would give many new story hooks, character concepts, history, and clan-specific crunch that pairs rules with setting. In particular, the combo Disciplines, which were not covered in V20 but have been requested again and again. 240 pages. PDF/PoD/Deluxe Kickstarter.
